RESUMÉ
Ian Clarke spent the first part of his career as a frontline mining engineer working in both South Africa and the U.K. on gold, tin and coal mines. Responsibilities ranged from day-to-day management of safety, ore production, haulage tunnel excavation and shaft sinking (all including drill/blast, muck transport, personnel management and materials control) as well as mine planning and environmental engineering and monitoring.
For the past 16 years he has worked in technical publishing to the Tunnelling and Mining sectors, with special interest in the specialist small bore and pipelines sector known as Trenchless Technology. Here he has worked closely with many of the industry's major client companies, engineering consultants, manufacturers, contractors, government bodies and trade organisations. These technologies have included Microtunnelling/Pipe Jacking, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Pipe Bursting/Replacement, Pipeline Rehabilitation (Lining and Repair), Utility Mapping and Pipeline Survey/Inspection.
Through his company NoDig Media Services, Ian now offers researching, writing, editing and design of articles, press releases, newsletters and magazine/supplement production for both hard copy and web based publishing, based on a background that has enabled him to develop solid, successful working relationships with a broad spectrum of people from CEO's through middle management to 'shop floor operators' and the general public.
